A secure society has free and secure internet for all, without surveillance, censorship or government control, argues political cartoonist Kianoush Ramezani. Living in exile from his native Iran, Ramezani uses online channels as the principle platform for his work. He argues that in a secure society social media need to provide a special forum for activism.
Ramezani fled Iran in 2009, and lives in exile in France. He is the founder of the SKETCH FREEDOM world movement dedicated to exiled cartoonists. He received the First International Editorial Cartoon Prize in 2012 from Kofi Annan and the city of Geneva, Switzerland.
