Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) threats to society are ‘low probability, high impact’, says Sjoerd van der Molen of Hotzone Solutions. Even so, people often underestimate how they occur. More importantly, there is very little knowledge in society about how to handle them. It’s vital to train emergency services in dealing with CBRN threats, he argues, because knowledge and experience are the best way to overcome fear.
