We need to create a secure nuclear future because nuclear is not going away, says Kenneth Luongo. Radiation does not respect borders, and we can't address the challenges it presents only on a national basis. Luongo advocates a 'mosaic' approach to global problem solving: thousands of small pieces that fit together to create a final result. Global nuclear security is a field in which the mosaic approach can make progress in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds.

Kenneth Luongo co-chairs the International Fissile Materials Working Group and is a member of the Nuclear Security Governance Experts Group. Previously Luongo served as a senior adviser for non-proliferation policy to the US Energy Secretary Hazel O'Leary.
